Write an analysis that bridges the book to part of your life experience/growth.
You will need an introduction with a thesis that relates to the novel,
Body paragraphs that explicate your points (quotes from the novel)
Transitions between paragraphs that are connected by your logic
An interesting conclusion that explains why the novel is or is not a valuable read.
HOW?
Analyze the Book:
What is the most useful piece of advice that you found in this book?
How does the author convey this advice? [What is her tone/diction? Does she use humor? Does it work to engage you- why or why not? What examples does she give? What metaphors does she use? Are they effective]
Why might the advice be useful?
Analyze Your Life: (dig deep for this one)
What is an area of your life that you are working on improving right now (confidence, finances, life purpose, social life, meeting goals, etc)
Relate the Book to Your Life:
How can you relate to the advice in the book to your own life?
Will you implement the advice? If so, how will you implement it? If not, why not?
Critique the Book:
Is there a better way to convey this advice?
Does the book fall short anywhere? What are ways for improvement (writing style, ethos /credibility, equality)?
Guidelines:
4-5 pages (1000- 1250 word count)
Includes Introduction (with thesis), Body (with supporting evidence from novel and life), and Conclusion
MLA format (includes Works Cited page)
You may use I and you should write in present tense (unless you are reflecting on something that happened in the past).
